What is an Organization?

In Google Cloud, an Organization is the root node in the Google Cloud resource hierarchy. It represents a company, institution, or other large entity and acts as the central administrative boundary for all Google Cloud resources. Every resource—such as projects, folders, and services—ultimately belongs to an Organization, providing a unified structure for managing access, policies, and billing.

Organizations enable centralized governance, security, and resource management. By grouping resources under a single Organization, administrators can apply policies, manage Identity and Access Management (IAM), and monitor usage across all projects and teams.
